Curriculum vitae

Marte could hereby list as many achievements as misfortunes, or assets as inconveniences. For reasons needless to state, he restrains to the rather professionally desirable bit.

His work combines psychology and cognitive sciences, arts, philosophy, and technology. Limited lenses from which to attend the blurriness of our bodily boundaries, the liminal ground between self and other: a space for possible togetherness. In articulating beyond words, in the muddy ground amid the senses, in the dialectic liveliness of knowing, his motivation bubbles. This all, through mischiefs of perception while trying to soften technoscience.

Of the kind of things people put on their resumes, Marte could include teaching courses and workshops at the Zurich University of the Arts, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, or the National Autonomous University of Mexico, between a multiplicity of places. He might add the diverse environments in which he has worked: from grassroots settings with communities surrounded by conflict, or groups often marginalized, to both fancy museums and squatted art spaces, or from the UN general assembly to neuropsychological laboratories. Holding degrees in psychology (doctoral), cognitive systems and interactive media (master), music composition and technology (bachelor), but also unfinished studies in other fields, he might add - “I’m now a postdoc at the Psychiatric University Clinic of the University of Zurich, where I study mixed reality interventions for trauma”, unpurposely misspelling some of these words.

With beautiful others he has shared these processes. And with a subset of them, about a decade ago, Marte cofounded BeAnotherLab, an interdisciplinary group, creator of the Machine to Be Another, a methodology for exchange through the illusion of embodying another real person. He even might add one or two awards here and there, just because that’s what one should do. But in fact, he’d like to insist on the beautiful others, for if it was not for them, he just wouldn’t have done any of it.

Marte rarely writes about himself as a third person. This was almost a coincidence. And he could have forgotten a list of publications for an academic profile. But he didn’t.
