How do children’s abilities and parental characteristics develop in the 2nd year of life?
Description:
In this study, we investigate how children’s development and parental characteristics change in the second year of life. We are interested in various aspects, such as parents’ knowledge of child development, their observation behaviour, their confidence in their own parenting skills, their parenting practices as well as the motor, emotional and social development of their children.
In order to record these changes, we accompany families over the course of a year and ask them to take part in surveys at three points in time. Some families also use the Pebbles app to document their children’s development, while other families track their children’s development without the app. In this way, we want to better understand the many factors that can influence child development and parental characteristics in the parenting process.
