Mirjam Habegger completed her bachelor's and master's degree in psychology at the University of Zurich, focusing on neuropsychology and cognitive neuroscience. During her master's studies, she gained experience in the fields of neuropsychological testing, neurophysiology, behavioral data analysis, (f)MRI, and fMRI neurofeedback. In her master’s thesis, she was investigating the relationship between interoceptive skills and learning success in fMRI neurofeedback. Before starting her PhD, she was working as a clinical neuropsychologist.

In her PhD studies under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Nora Raschle and Prof. Dr. Todd Hare, Mirjam will focus on the impact of stress on the development of emotion regulation brain networks and of changes in those networks on the resilience during future stressful life events. She will mainly examine data collected from children and adolescents from various longitudinal studies using structural and functional imaging methods.

Currently, she examines the influence of parenting behaviors on children’s and adolescents’ brain structure, as well as how functional connectivity predicts resilience and mental health outcomes during stressful experiences. Mirjam Habegger is part of the interdisciplinary and interinstitutional HMZ flagship project STRESS.
