Personality psychology differs from other branches of psychology in its relatively broad focus on understanding the whole person, including their traits, values, problems, thoughts, and behaviors. Specific topics include how people are different from one another, how people change or stay the same over time or across situations, the genetic and environmental origins of individual differences, and the implications of personality for important life outcomes such as mental health or relationship satisfaction.
