FAcTh - Focus Groups on Intersession Activities in Psychotherapy from the therapists' view

Project Coordinator: Leonie Kollmar, M.Sc.

Principal Investigator: Professor Birgit Watzke

In the project "FAcTh - Focus Groups on Intersession Activities in Psychotherapy from the therapists' perspective" we aim to better understand how patients are doing in between therapy sessions. How do patients implement therapeutic contents into their everyday lives and which difficulties but also achievements are connected with this? Apart from the patient perspective, we are also interested in how psychotherapists' view and appraise these processes in their patients.

We are conducting focus groups with psychotherapists to gain first insights regarding this question. Focus groups will take place end of October on various alternative dates from 12:00 to 13:30 with approximately 4 to 6 psychotherapists per focus group. The location will either be campus Oerlikon or Center of the University of Zurich depending on preference.

  • Thursday, 24.10.19 - fully booked
  • Friday, 25.10.19 - fully booked
  • Monday, 28.10.19 - fully booked
  • Tuesday, 29.10.19 - fully booked

As part of a moderated discussion, the focus group contains an exchange about own experiences and appraisals regarding the transfer of therapeutic contents into the patients' daily lives. Food and drinks will be prepared. Additionally, participating psychotherapists will receive a book voucher worth 50 CHF as a thank-you for their contribution.

We would like to cordially invite all interested psychotherapists to take part in the focus group. We would be pleased to welcome you to one of the four possible dates and would be very interested to hear more about your experiences in everyday clinical practice.

Conditions for participation:

  • Interest in an extensive moderated discussion about intersession activities and transfer of psychotherapy;
  • Currently working as a psychotherapist in the individual and outpatient setting with adults
  • Advanced or completed training for licensed psychotherapy recognised by the Swiss Confederation
  • Proficiency in the German language

By participating in one of the focus groups, therapists provide important insights into the daily psychotherapeutic practice and make a valuable contribution to better understand the transfer of psychotherapeutic contents in the patients' daily lives.
